Muungano Microfinance Bank Plc is licensed by Central Bank of Kenya under the Microfinance Act 2006 and Regulation 2008 (amendment 2013) as the 14th overall and the first to be headquartered in a rural setting, in Kangari township, Kigumo Sub-county of Muranga County. The license was granted in November, 2019 mandating the bank to conduct banking business in Kenya in response to Vision 2030 on financial inclusion, MDG and SDG Agenda No. 1 on poverty alleviation and lately as a contributor to one of the Key attributes under Big 4 Agenda; food security.
The Bank’s main objective is to facilitate improvement of the agri-business sector focusing mainly on Dairy and Tea Value chains. The Bank contributes immensely towards capacity building through various partnerships aimed at ensuring the farmer is doing ‘everything right’ to boost productivity and maximize related income.
Besides the agri-business sector, the Bank supports retail business, personal/consumer loans among others and promotes savings and investment.
